Description
The site of the Gouffre de Plougrescant is one of the jewels of the Trégorroise coastline: a large rift carved into the granite by the sea, where the waves rush in and sometimes gush out with force. Nearby is the famous house between the rocks, Castel Meur (or “Maison du Gouffre”), built in 1861 between two huge blocks of granite, and now an emblematic landmark. Recommended route
- Parking lot just before the Gouffre site (well signposted).
- Follow the path from the parking lot to the viewpoint over the Gouffre, admiring the fault and the house between the rocks.
- Continue on to the Pointe du Château for a panoramic view of the sea and coast.
- Return in a loop along the coastal path or return along the same path depending on the weather.
- Variation: extend to Poul Stripo Bay for a slightly longer loop.
- Bring comfortable shoes and perhaps a windbreaker, depending on the sea breeze.
